Examples
200 sq ft, 3 in deep
200 sq ft × 3 in, 2 cu ft bags
Calculation
- Depth: 3 ÷ 12 = 0.25 ft
- Volume: 200 × 0.25 = 50 cu ft
- Cubic yards: 50 ÷ 27 = 1.85
- Bags: 50 ÷ 2 = 25 bags
50 cu ft (1.85 cu yd, 25 bags)
Assumptions & Conventions
- Bag size
- Bag size defaults to 2 cubic feet and can be changed to match the product you are buying.
- Bag rounding
- The estimated number of bags is rounded up so the calculated amount is sufficient to cover the entered area and depth.
- Cubic-yard conversion
- 1 cubic yard = 27 cubic feet.
