Cups to Grams — Ingredient-Specific Weight Converter
~30 seconds
Pick an ingredient, enter an amount, and choose the units to convert between. Each ingredient uses its own grams-per-cup reference under a stated measuring convention — there is no universal "1 cup = X grams." Missing ingredient? The tool tells you plainly rather than guessing.
What this calculator determines
It converts between cups, tablespoons, teaspoons, and grams for a chosen ingredient using that ingredient's own grams-per-cup reference under a stated measuring convention.

1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup flour → grams
Calculation
- All-purpose flour = 120 g/cup (fluff, spoon, level)
- 1 × 120 = 120 g
120 g
2 tablespoons honey
2 tbsp honey → grams
Calculation
- Honey = 21 g/tbsp
- 2 × 21 = 42 g
42 g
Assumptions & Conventions
- Ingredient-specific density
- There is no universal cup-to-gram conversion; each ingredient uses its own reference weight because cups measure volume and grams measure weight.
- Measuring convention
- The reference weight depends on how the ingredient is filled into the cup (e.g. spooned and leveled flour ≈ 120 g/cup); the convention is stated per ingredient.
- Estimate, not exact
- Results are reference values — measuring technique changes the actual weight, so the conversion is practical rather than precise.
- Verified ingredients only
- If an ingredient is not in the verified list, the tool says so rather than guessing.
