Assumptions & Conventions
- Pack sizes are editable defaults
- The defaults are 10 hot dogs per pack and 8 buns per pack (US retail); these are starting points you can change, not universal pack sizes.
- Whole-pack rounding creates surplus
- Packs are rounded up to whole packs, so the bought count usually exceeds the exact count needed; the surplus is shown explicitly.
