Calculation
- Width: 5 × 12 = 60″
- Height: 6 × 12 = 72″
- Area: 60 × 72 = 4,320 sq in

Assumptions & Conventions
- Finished dimensions
- Block size, sashing, and border widths are finished (sewn-in) dimensions; seam allowances are not added.
- Sashing count
- Sashing strips run between blocks only, so a row of N blocks has N − 1 sashing strips.
- Border
- The border is added around the outside of the whole block grid (2 × border width per dimension).
